How to reach the Residence on Lake Como
Hello everyone! The time has finally come for the reopening! The days are finally getting longer, the sky is bluer and the sunshine is getting warmer - it's the perfect weather to start the new season!
Today I want to give you some very useful information, which I am often asked about: the various ways to get to the Residence from the main airports.
I always recommend booking a rental car directly at your arrival airport, because public transport does not reach Vercana and moving around using those can be inconvenient.
From Milan Malpensa:
Landing at Milan Malpensa you can take the Malpensa Express train to Milano Centrale and from there take the train to Tirano and get off at Colico. From Colico you can take the C10 bus to Como and get off at Domaso. However, to get to Vercana, where the Residence is located, there is no public transport available. So, unless you want to walk 20 minutes uphill with your luggage, I strongly advise against this. Alternatively, once you arrive in Colico you can rent a car, but you'd better book it before your departure to make sure it's available.
From Milan Linate:
Landing in Milan Linate you can take the bus line 73 that goes to the Duomo metro stop in Milan. From Duomo take the yellow line towards Comasina and get off at Centrale station. From Centrale you can take the train to Tirano and get off at Colico. From Colico you can take the C10 bus to Como and get off at Domaso. However, the Domaso-Vercana route is not covered by public transport, so it would not be possible to reach the Residence without a car: I recommend renting one in Colico, but make sure you book it before your departure to make sure it is available.
From Orio al Serio (BGY):
In case you land at Bergamo Airport, you can take Bus Line 1 and get to the Bergamo train station. From there you can take the train to Lecco and once in Lecco you can take the train to Tirano or Sondrio and get off at Colico. From Colico you can take the C10 bus to Como and get off at Domaso. However, there is no public transport from Domaso to Vercana, where the Residence is located. Alternatively, you can rent a car in Colico, which you should book before your departure.
The option I recommend is, in any case, to rent a car directly at the airport where you will land, so you will be independent and can enjoy every corner of Lake Como. Now that you know that all roads lead to the Residence Il Giardino di Lory... I am waiting for you! -Sarah
